Scaling GlowGrid: +180% Conversions via Headless Shopify & Next.js

Client: GlowGrid Co.

Industry: E-Commerce

The Problem & Challenge

GlowGrid's monolithic Shopify Liquid theme suffered from bloated bundle sizes and sluggish TTFB, resulting in a 4.2-second mobile load time and a high cart abandonment rate.

Our Engineered Solution

We engineered a custom headless Next.js frontend deployed to Cloudflare Edge Pages, utilizing Shopify Storefront GraphQL API to load catalogs dynamically and Tailwind CSS for max design agility.

Project Strategy Breakdown

When operating a high-volume dropshipping or direct-to-consumer online business, milliseconds correlate directly with profitability. GlowGrid, an established brand in the decorative light niche, was facing severe performance bottlenecks. Their legacy Liquid theme, loaded with dynamic tracking scripts and apps, created a frustrating shopping experience on mobile devices.

The Tech Stack Transformation

We decoupled the shopping experience completely from standard template loops by adopting a modern headless structure:

  • Next.js (Turbopack): For compiling ultra-static page assets at build-time.
  • Edge API Handlers: Serving dynamic cart listings and reviews instantly on Cloudflare edge points.
  • Tailwind CSS styling: Guaranteeing clean, asset-light styling without large blocking stylesheets.

Unlocking Massive Performance Metrics

By shifting to Next.js on Cloudflare Pages, we eliminated database roundtrips entirely for catalog loading. Mobile page speeds dropped from 4.2 seconds to 0.8 seconds, driving a massive surge in sales conversions and customer satisfaction.
